Why You Should Store Your Content on the Blockchain

A new age for creators

We live in an age where platforms own all of our content. Twitter owns your tweets, youtube owns your videos, and so on. While you might have created the video, the platform can delete it anytime.

Most platforms are almost perfect. They have excellent curation and distribution systems to reach large audiences. You can follow people you like and interact with their content.

Almost perfect.

Storing on the Blockchain When you store your content on the blockchain, it will remain there forever. Noone can delete it. You have complete control.

In this scenario, when a platform uses your content, you still own it. The platform will instead make a call(get request) to the blockchain to display your content. The content gets displayed through the platform but lives on the blockchain.

You also have proof of who created the article when you use a token id mapped with the owner's public address.

Why It Shouldn't Be Called Web3 Web3 is not an accurate name for the blockchain revolution. It improves the current scenario. But it is still dependent on existing technologies. Web2.5 would have been more apt.

The blockchain acts as a shared database for everyone. You don't need any special API or API keys to access data. You just have to get it from the blockchain.

The Way Forward Let's be honest. The crypto world is full of scammers trying to make a quick buck. Even the ones with millions of followers on Twitter want to sell you their exclusive NFTs.

There are so many vulnerable and naive people in this space who scammers want to loot.

This needs to stop. This can only happen if people continue to build real solutions. Solutions that make blockchain omnipresent. It might seem like everyone knows about the blockchain. But you should check the adoption percentage. Once you see that, you know we are just getting started.

Start Building Don't be part of the group that propagates lies. Lies like NFTs are assets of the future or cryptocurrencies will replace actual money.

Instead, build products that the common man can use. Or build something that will help blockchain be accessible to everyone.

Take a look at chainlink. They allow smart contracts to communicate with outside data. This simple and small innovation allows an incredible number of apps to build viable solutions.

At dArticle.io, we are trying to build a platform for writers. Writers have all of the benefits of a traditional platform. But thanks to blockchain technology, users will get countless extra features such as unlockable content and easy payouts.

Creating a dArticle When you create a dArticle, you create an NFT from your article. An NFT is just a fancy term for data stored on the blockchain. This data contains a token id and an IPFS URL.

IPFS is a decentralized database. This is where all of your article(dArticle) content is stored. The URL is stored on the blockchain.

So even though you create your article using dArticle.io, you can use this same data on any of your websites or blogs.
